AUTO RE-LEARN

Auto re-learn TPMS means the vehicle automatically relearns the tire pressure sensor locations after the tires are rotated, replaced, or when tire pressures are adjusted. No special tool is required. After driving at a steady speed for a short period, the system identifies each sensor and assigns it to the correct wheel position. Once the relearn process is finished, the TPMS light will turn off and the system will return to normal operation.

Refer to the Owner's Manual for in-depth instructions.

  • Set all tires to the correct pressure listed on the door sticker.
  • Turn the ignition on (engine off) or start the vehicle, depending on the model.
  • Drive at a steady speed (approximately 30-50 mph / 50-80 km/h) for 15-25 minutes.

The TPMS light should turn off after the relearn process is complete.

OBD2 RELEARN

An OBD-II relearn is performed using a scan tool connected to the vehicle's OBD port.

Step-by-step

  1. The vehicle must be parked.
  2. The parking brake (E-brake) must be engaged.
  3. Turn the ignition to the ON position.
  4. Make sure all tires are inflated to the correct pressure.
  5. Connect an OBD-II scan tool to the vehicle.
  6. The OBD port is typically located under the dashboard near the steering wheel.
  7. Enter TPMS relearn mode.
  8. On the scan tool, select an option similar to: TPMS -> Relearn -> Start

This command tells the vehicle to begin "listening" for the tire sensors.

Trigger each tire sensor in the following order:

  1. Front Left
  2. Front Right
  3. Rear Right
  4. Rear Left

Each sensor is activated using a TPMS activation tool.

When a sensor is successfully detected, the vehicle will usually:

  • Sound a beep
  • Flash the lights
  • Display a message on the dashboard

After the final tire is triggered, the vehicle will exit relearn mode.

The TPMS light should turn off after a short drive.

Trigger Tool Relearn

  1. Adjust Tire Pressure: Inflate all tires to the recommended pressure listed on the driver's door sticker.
  2. Prepare the Vehicle: Engage the parking brake and ensure the ignition is in the OFF position.
  3. Begin the Relearn Procedure: Press and release the brake pedal. Turn the key from OFF to RUN three times, ending in RUN (dashboard lights on, engine NOT started). Press and release the brake pedal again. Turn the key to OFF. Turn the key from OFF to RUN three more times, ending in RUN.
  4. Verify Relearn Mode: The horn will beep once, the TPMS light will flash once, and if equipped, the dashboard will display "Train LF Tire." This indicates that relearn mode has been activated.
  5. Train the Tire Sensors: Use a TPMS scan tool or trigger tool. Wait for the horn to beep before moving to the next tire. Follow this order: Left Front (LF), Right Front (RF), Right Rear (RR), Left Rear (LR).
  6. Complete the Relearn: After training the Left Rear tire, the dashboard will display "Training Mode Complete," and the TPMS light will turn off. Turn the ignition OFF. If no horn sounds, the relearn was successful. If the horn sounds when turning the ignition OFF, the relearn failed and must be repeated.
  7. Turn Ignition OFF: The relearn process is now complete.
